Why can't you build muscle by working out? You don't keep a training logbook
Do you write down the load you lift every time you train? If you don't, you should start right away. Progressive overload, or the gradual increase in resistance, is an effective method to increase muscle mass.

While intensity is probably the most important variable to trigger lean muscle mass growth, make sure you also increase your loads as often as possible. Recording your performance after each workout allows you to see where you started and track your progress, and most importantly, to avoid being at the same weight for years.
