Strength Training for Women, Myths and Facts : 2 - Women don't have the same hormonal profile as men
2 - Women don't have the same hormonal profile as men :

Testosterone plays a huge role in the development of muscle mass. It triggers the body's response to develop a larger muscle when the muscle itself is stressed from exercise. A woman's body isn't capable of producing the same amount of Testosterone as a man's body is. Therefore, the effect of strength training on muscle growth is much less in women than in men.

Then why are there some women that have developed larger physiques?

Very specific weight training exercises along with a calculated diet and supplementation plan can still result in a fairly large increase in muscle mass in females. However, if you aren't performing a strict Bodybuilding plan as your workout, consuming excessive amounts of protein and calories you won't have the same results.

Weight training can be very beneficial to women to help them reach fitness goals as well as increase bone density to fight Osteoporosis later in life. Keep in mind that diet, not weight training, leads to that "manly figure" many women are trying to avoid.
