Why can't you build muscle by working out? You do too many isolation exercises
You do too many isolation exercises :
A beginner whose goal number 1 is to gain muscle that is limited to tirelessly doing monoarticular exercises such as pec deck gaps or lateral elevations will not achieve great results. These exercises are excellent; however, when you want to build a large muscle mass, polyarticular exercises are essential. When you start practicing weight training or bodybuilding, it is useless to do all the exercises that exist.

It is necessary to stick to a basic work: squat, bench press, shoulder press, curl with the bar, dips, traction on the high bar, rowing. As these exercises recruit a large number of muscle fibres, they promote an hypertrophy that cannot be achieved with isolation movements.
Solution: No need to completely reject isolation exercises. If you do, say, 3 exercises for a large muscle group such as thighs or back, it is to ensure that only one of these exercises is monoarticular. Save it for the end or do it first as a pre-fatigue for your muscles before the big basic exercises that follow.
