"Two squares of dark chocolate a day protect our cardiovascular system," says Professor Claire Mounier-Vehier. Dark chocolate has positive effects on the cardiovascular system, thanks in particular to the presence of flavonoids, powerful antioxidants. 

Chocolate tends first of all to lower "bad" cholesterol (LDL) and increase the level of "good" cholesterol (HDL). In addition, chocolate reduces blood pressure. Finally, the flavonoids contained in chocolate make the blood thinner by acting on coagulation.
