All the advertisements and magazine photos show buff men and women that supposedly developed that hot body after taking a few supplements as well as hitting the gym. What these supplement developers do not disclose is the fact that these photos have been retouched, air brushed and altered to make those muscles and body look better than it really is. It is true that supplements can help build muscle, but not alone! It takes more than simple supplements, dieting or lifting weight to get the body that most skinny guys dream of. In order to understand which supplements are the best it is important to first figure out what type of metabolism you have and set goals.

Most weight lifters whether they be hard gainers or bodybuilding professionals neglect the recovery period. The body must have time to cool off or take a break from those harsh workout sessions. One has to remember that after a hard and heavy workout the muscles are fatigued, broken down and are very susceptible to injury. Without appropriate healing those tiny tears in the muscle caused by weight lifting do not heal properly and therefore do not grow the muscle.



Now supplements can be wonderful and many hard gainers use them to move from skinny to muscle bound. They will not work alone however. A good combination of supplements, diet, workout and recovery time is the key to a well built muscled body. Recovery doesn't mean not lifting weights either; it takes a good night's sleep as well as the body releases hormones to help the muscles repair and rebuild when you sleep. If the body is not getting at least 8 hours of sleep per night though it can hinder this hormone release and actually deplete all your hard work at the gym.

So, take the time to learn about supplements, but do not forget how vitally important rest and recovery time is to getting a buff body. Muscles do not get bigger and you cannot move from skinny to muscle without a good balance. Just like when the body is sick or injured it needs plenty of rest the same stands true with muscle building! While the body must be pushed through the work out session, it is also important to choose the right supplements, diet and allow for plenty of rest. That is the best way to get maximum results!
