The consumption of Omega 3 essential fatty acids (which are part of polyunsaturated fatty acids, such as Omega 6) has a preventive effect on cardiovascular diseases for several reasons. First, they reduce triglyceride levels, a cardiovascular risk factor. Omega 3 also acts on platelet aggregation, inflammation, elasticity of arteries (and therefore blood pressure).

To fill up with omega-3, eat fatty fish (herring, salmon, sardines, mackerel...) at best 2 times a week, and season your salads with rapeseed, walnut and flax oils. See our list of foods rich in Omega 3
