The natural muscle potential of women : There is truth in all of this, but the causes are not what we believe. In truth, they can gain as much muscle as men if they follow the same muscle training. In fact, women gain as much volume and sometimes more strength than men. The only difference is the starting point. Men start with much more muscle mass and strength, but the relative increase in muscle volume is the same between men and women.


Research on protein metabolism comes to the same conclusion. Women build as much muscle protein after a workout or meal as men. In fact, one study even showed that for the same muscle mass, women have a better protein synthesis rate than men.
