Understanding Various Strands of Professional Bodybuilding (Part 1) :

In professional terms, a bodybuilder is someone who has won in competitions as mere amateur and has gone ahead to win the recognition of the IFBB. Professionals earn the right to participate in various sanctioned competitions. To win a placing at such competitions such as Night of Champions requires a great deal of commitment and dedication on the part of the bodybuilder. If you get the right to participate in Mr. Olympia, you are already a hero since you will be participating in the competition which held in the highest honor in the history of bodybuilding.

Natural bodybuilding is so-called because it embraces drug-free competitions in an effort to maintain the integrity of bodybuilding. There are lie detectors at various stages of applying for all competitions held to be natural. Relevant jurisdictions provide legal frameworks which make it possible for violators to be identified, disqualified and charged. The emphasis here is on the maintaining healthier lifestyles compared to other forms of bodybuilding. Female bodybuilding is not a new term in the field of bodybuilding.

Women have entered this field since the early 1940s but a true female bodybuilding contest did not emerge until 1978 when Henry McGhee sponsored one where contestants were ranked solely on the appearance of their muscles. This is the kind of inspiration that future competitors had been waiting for. This is the case because after that, there was a sharp increase in the number of competitors as well as wiling sponsors. Female bodybuilders nowadays are finding it hard to make a breakthrough in the industry because almost all promoters have strengthened the guidelines governing selection and winning criteria in order to meet the changing needs and challenges.
