I would not skip the gym. If your legs are sore nothing wrong with working another muscel group. Say your chest is sore I would do some light bench press to help blood flow that will help recovery. Some light cardio is good as well will help with blood flow. Drink lots of water, hydration is key and avoid NASID. You just mask the recovery process
