From 301 to 145: A Journey of Balance, Strength, and Sustainability

From 301 to 145: A Journey of Balance, Strength, and Sustainability

In August 2020, I started my journey at 301 lbs. Today, at 145 lbs, I’ve lost 154 lbs over a year and a half through consistent effort and sustainable habits. At 5’8” and 38 years old, I credit my success to a calorie deficit, an 18:6 intermittent fasting routine (which I worked up to gradually), and regular exercise.

During my weight loss phase, I committed to 30-minute HIIT workouts with Shaun T at least five days a week. Over the last two years, I’ve transitioned to Barre and Pilates, which I now do 6–7 days a week for 30–45 minutes using YouTube and BODi. These styles not only keep me physically fit but also support my mental health. Moving my body daily is a priority because it keeps me grounded and energized.

Throughout my journey, balance was key. I made thoughtful food choices most of the time, but I never deprived myself. If I wanted ice cream with my kids, I found a way to enjoy it within my calorie goals. Restriction wasn’t the answer—I learned this the hard way after years of failed fad diets. Sustainable, realistic habits made the difference.

The most important lesson I’ve learned is that lasting weight loss requires patience and consistency. It’s about building a lifestyle you can maintain, not chasing quick fixes. Every choice should support not just your physical health but your overall well-being.

This journey has transformed not only my body but also my relationship with food, exercise, and myself. If I can do it, so can you!
