So i put my Type 2 in remission thru diet weight lose and exercise, heres a few of the things i learned along the way, have a snack before BED to prevent elevated levels in the morning, either protein or complex carb, Eat as much of ur food raw or somewhat undercooked as possible, breaks down a lot slower preventing the blood sugar spikes, OATMEAL, PROTEIN and HEALTHY FATS are ur best friends. If u havent already googled "Glycemic index, do it and pick foods mostly on the low to medium side. If ur not familiar with it its basically a comparison for foods that help to determine how fast they break down due to different properties ex. if a food has a lot of fibre with a lot of sugar it will break down slower due to the fibre content as say compared to a food with low fibre. After eating go for a walk, swim etc to burn off some of those calories that are created from the foods that break down rapidly. I went on an ULTRA LOW CARB DIET for about 6 months, in also a guinea pig for a study out of a big hospital in OTTAWA but it was a lot more relaxed than what i was already doing and i was getting greeat results from my own test so dropped out. The Ultra low card diet was brutal but the theory was (from a researcher out of the UK) it would basically put ur pancreas on a vacation and allow the undeveloped cells to develop fully to assist with insulin production. I was diabetic for approx. 3 years, (not a fan its a bitch of an illness which no one could begin to understand unless you have lived it) It took me approx 1 1/2 years of eating exercising a certain way but i am still free of this scourge almost two years i believe now. I still eat and exercise but treat myself to almost any type of goodies i want without a single issue. Good luck!!!Feel free to hit me up if any of this interest you!!
