But the fear of looking muscular keeps women away from weights and they stick to mainly cardio and pilates or yoga. However, if you want to look toned, you will have to do weights. Doing weights adds some muscle and a lot of muscular definition. Without weights, you will just look thinner.

Secondly, if you are focusing on weight loss and are creating a consistent calorie deficit through diet and exercise, you wont be able to pack on a lot of muscle either! You will just get leaner and more "toned" as you keep losing body fat.

So stop looking for special toning exercises, and focus on a low fat diet and eating in moderation. Combine that with consistent cardio 3-4 times a week and some resistance training 2-3 times a week and you will have a toned shapely body.


Even getting rid of the cellulite,which seems to be a common quest among women, can be easily achieved as you drop body fat. There are no special exercises to get rid of cellulite. Just exercise regularly and focus on good nutrition.

For shapely arms, do upper body compound exercises like pull ups, push ups, chin ups, dips etc. For shapely legs, do some squats, lunges etc. Also running/jogging will also help shape your legs.

But most of your "tone" will come if you eat a low fat diet and keep losing body fat week after week.
