Golden Rule 2 - Eat For Size (Part 2) :
As well as protein a good source of fast digesting carbohydrates is good pre-workout as this will give your body the energy it needs to perform the heavy lifts you will be doing at your body's maximal ability. Also post workout some of these fast digesting carbohydrates are needed to restock your now depleted glycogen stores. The easiest way to get fast digesting carbohydrates into you is by eating fruit is quick to digest and rapidly fills glycogen stores plus you should be eating plenty of fruit anyway.


Besides the protein you take in pre and post workout, you need to ensure you take in plenty of protein throughout the day so that it is always available for your muscles to feed of and grow. Each day you should be aiming for approximately 1-2 grams of protein per pound of body weight and this amount should be spread over around about 5 meals depending on your schedule and how often you can get some feeding time in.

Remember protein is the building blocks of your muscles, you can train heavy all you want but if you don't provide the material your body needs to build muscle with then nothing's going to happen.
