Breathing in strength training :

Breathing: Why is it important?
Many strength training practitioners are unaware of the importance of breathing during an effort. To begin, let us recall the basics about the respiratory system and the role that breathing plays in the functioning of the body.

Breathing mechanism: recall
Breathing movements are vital to the body: they allow air to circulate through the lungs and airways. These movements are caused by the intercostal muscles and the diaphragm.
The diaphragm, contracting itself will increase the volume of the rib cage, pushing the lungs down: this is the inspiration. Then, the diaphragm will relax and thus the volume of the lungs will decrease: it is the expiration.
