Building muscle is going to cause you to burn more calories throughout the day because it takes more energy to fuel than fat, even at rest. Often people will work on building muscle and not change their diets or do cardio at all and still create enough of a calorie deficit to lose fat as a byproduct, not a central goal


Team no cardio here (usually). I do 5 - 10 min of a light/moderate jog for a warm-up and then it's all weights. I like to keep my heart rate pretty high while I'm lifting though. IF I do any type of cardio, it's on either a row machine or an ARC trainer so that it's still resistance work. During a cut, I'll add in about 2 hours a week just so I can have the extra calories.
