⚖ Calorie Budgeting?! What??⁣ ⁣

⚖ Calorie Budgeting?! What??⁣ ⁣
😰 As the holidays approach 🎄 I start stressing about money, then I start budgeting... being frugal & limiting my spending so I'll have money to use on extra expenses for gifts & celebrations. ⁣

I think everyone is familiar with that... & if you're not then you must be filthy rich, in which case my PayPal is monika@reign.... 🤣⁣

🧐 On a serious note, this is how financial budgeting works. But have you heard of calorie budgeting?⁣

👉🏼 It works on the same premise: an event is coming up where you will be eating more calories than usual. So just like financial budgeting, you become frugal with your calorie intake leading up to the event so you have more calories to use on the event. ⁣

Doing this means your weekly calorie intake won't be way over your maintenance which means you can prevent packing on the holiday pounds. 🙅🏻‍♀️⁣

📊 Let's say your usual daily calorie intake is 2000 Cal. You have big dinner plans w/ family for Christmas on Saturday. ⁣
What you would do is eat about 10-20% less calories each day for the week leading up to the dinner. Sunday - Friday you would eat approx 1800 Cal. That's 200 cal a day saved from Sun - Fri. 200 x 6 = 1200 Cal.⁣
That's an extra 1200 calories you have budgeted for that dinner. 🤩⁣

This is meant to be done when you have a few celebratory dinners or events within a short span of time where food/drinks will be served and you want to enjoy yourself, like the holidays coming up and you're trying to follow macros/calories. A one off indulgence every few months doesn't really need this if you're strict the rest of the time.

(If you have disordered eating, it will probably be a better idea to avoid this altogether. )⁣

⁣❓🤔 What is your favorite holiday food/drink? Comment below! 👇🏼⁣ Mine is these paleo Sugar cookies my mom always makes with nut flour and cinnamon and I don't know what else but they're mmmmm so good 🤤
