Resistance Training, The Most Powerful Fat Burner! (Part 1) :

If you are trying to burn fat, you really need to be doing some sort of resistance training. I see people struggle everyday to lose fat and get in shape even though they are spending hours each week in the gym. Spending time working out and spending time working out right are two different things. If you have been training for a prolonged period of time, you most likely have seen your workouts lead to progressively less results. Whatever worked in the beginning may not work anymore.

Whenever you start out, you may decide to walk on the treadmill for 1/2 hour, three times a week. This is more than you did without exercising and you will probably see some weight loss as long as your calories were also less than before. As your body adjusts to this type of exercise and gets more efficient, it doesn't have to work very hard to walk for this amount on the treadmill.



You can increase the amount that you spend walking, you can increase the speed and run more of the time, or you can raise the treadmill on an incline. These will all increase the intensity of your training and they all have their place in your arsenal. The problem with this is that eventually, you will get in better shape and they will also lose their effectiveness.

There comes a point that you just can't make it consistently harder. You don't want to spend two hours a day running on a treadmill! Lucky for all of us, this isn't the best way to burn fat anyways. There are numerous studies that show that to burn fat and also keep the muscle that you have, you should be doing resistance training and interval cardio. If you are walking on the treadmill for an hour a day, versus resistance training with interval cardio, you will not burn fat effectively. This doesn't mean that you need to be lifting weights for two hours a day in the gym with a bunch of muscleheads trying to be bodybuilders. Resistance training comes in many forms and some very effective ways can be done with only bodyweight exercises.
