First you need to lose your fear of
becoming too bulky. Realize that gaining muscle is hard work. While a
few people have the genetic gifts that allow them to gain muscle fairly
easily (the mesomorphs), for the rest of us it is not something that
just happens casually. Lose your fear and train with weights at least
three times a week.
I suggest that you do mostly compound
exercises like pull-ups, squats, dead-lifts and pushups because these
tend to recruit the most muscle fiber and will get you the best results.
It
is not physiologically possible to simply tone up your biceps or
triceps in isolation. This is another myth that I would like to
debunk-that you can spot reduce fat from various body parts.
I
recommend about 45 - 60 minutes per session of weight training. More
than that will result in overtraining and you will end up feeling
emaciated rather than 'tight'.
